Jade A. Lawson is an award-winning multimedia journalist with a passion for storytelling and an eagerness to highlight the experiences of those who are often overlooked. Focusing on sports, culture and entertainment her work has been featured on Good Morning America, ABC News, ESPN and Andscape. She is currently a Multimedia journalist for 7News covering the D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas.

Whether she’s leading an in-depth conversation with the first openly gay HBCU football player or chatting with WNBA icon Sue Bird, Jade’s big smile and persona gives characters and audiences an open space to share their stories.

From New York City to the DMV, Jade’s work spans from in-depth reporting including “Former activists’ fight for reproductive rights”, “HBCUs and COVID-19 vaccination trials” and “How changing rules led to a resurgence for women in hip hop.” She has interviewed dozens of artists and high profile subjects such as Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Lopez, Angel Reese and more.

Lawson moderates panel discussions for entertainment companies including Hulu’s drama series, Black Cake.

Her work has earned accolades within the news media industry, including an Emmy nomination and a Peabody Award nomination. She is also a 2x Webby award honoree, a Columbia duPont and Edward R. Murrow Award winner, a 3x NABJ Salute to Excellence award winner, an HBCU 30 under 30 recipient and a heavily sought after mentor for Black Girls in Media.

Jade is a proud graduate of Hampton University and Columbia University School of Journalism and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

When she’s not working, Jade is spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, or recruiting a new fan to the WNBA!
